This page defines the terms used across the Athena docs. Each entry links to the page that covers it in full.

Platform

Athena

An enterprise AI analyst that works as a digital team member. It researches the web and your documents, analyzes connected data, drafts documents and presentations, summarizes meetings, and automates recurring work. See Athena & Olympus.

Olympus

The AI-native analytics and operations platform that Athena runs on. Olympus provides data integration, deployment options, APIs and the applications you work in. See Athena & Olympus.

Agents and chat

Agent

A configurable AI assistant with its own tools, knowledge and behavior settings. See Agents.

Agent Team

A group of agents that work together, with an orchestrator agent delegating tasks to specialist agents. See Agent Teams.

Persona

A mode that sets how Athena works in a chat. Chat is read-only and fast, Assist (the default) reads and writes in your workspace, and Deep Think handles multi-step reasoning and may use several agents. See Your First Chat.

Effort Dial

An agent setting that makes the agent spend a minimum amount of time reasoning before it answers. See Agents.

Tool

A single action an agent can take, such as reading an asset or creating a document. You can turn individual tools on or off for each agent. See Tools.

Toolkit

A set of related tools for one kind of work, such as documents, spreadsheets, email or browsing. Athena suggests toolkits based on what you have open. See Your First Chat.

Memories

What an agent remembers from past conversations and feedback, used to improve later responses. See Memories.

Knowledge and context

Knowledge Base

Long-term memory that gives agents access to your organization’s information across sessions. See Knowledge Base.

Workbench

An agent’s active working files for a project or task. They are saved on the agent and stay available in later runs until removed. The Knowledge Base holds general reference material; the Workbench holds what matters for the work at hand. See Workbench.

Project

A shared workspace that brings together the assets, team members and AI capabilities for one initiative. See Projects.

Citation

A deep link from an Athena answer to the exact page, timestamp or cell it came from. See Citations & Deep Linking.

Assets and data

Asset

Any item in your Athena workspace: a document, spreadsheet, presentation, email, meeting, notebook, file or live asset. See Spaces and Assets.

Spaces

Athena’s multi-pane workspace for opening, arranging and chatting with several assets side by side. See Spaces and Assets.

Live Asset

A file or record that stays in an external system such as SharePoint, Google Drive, iManage or Snowflake. Athena fetches it on demand as the signed-in user and keeps no permanent copy. See Live Assets.

Folder

A nested, hierarchical container for organizing assets. See Asset Organization.

Collection

A group of related assets, for organizing by theme or project. See Asset Organization.

Catalog

A connection to an external data source or provider that gives live access to its data. See Asset Organization.

Automation

AOP (Agent Operating Procedure)

A reusable AI workflow: a prompt template with input parameters that runs on demand, on a schedule, by email, or through the API and SDK. See AOPs.

Flow

A no-code workflow built from connected steps in a visual editor, run manually, on a schedule or by email. See Flows.

Task Studio

Where technical builders run Python scripts as tasks on schedules and event triggers. See Task Studio.

Trigger

An event that starts an AOP, Flow or task automatically, such as a schedule or an incoming email.

Applications

Computer

A governed cloud workspace with a filesystem, terminal, live previews and deployment, where agents and users build and run software. See Computer.

Inbox

Where you see agent sessions that are waiting for your input or that you follow. See Inbox.

Athena Sentry

A desktop assistant that captures screen and workspace activity and provides voice assistance. See Athena Sentry.
