Automatic asset toolkits add the tools for working on an asset to your open session when you open that asset in Spaces. A toolkit is a group of related tools. Use this behavior when you move between assets and want Athena to have the matching authoring tools available without selecting a toolkit for each asset.

Work with an open asset

  1. Open a session in Spaces.
  2. Open the asset you want to work on beside the session.
  3. Open the Tools menu in the composer. The matching authoring toolkit, for example Spreadsheet for a spreadsheet, shows as a highlighted row, and the Tools badge counts it. It is enabled if it is available to you and is not already enabled.
  4. Tell Athena what you want to do with the asset. Opening the asset enables tools; your message tells Athena what work to perform.
The association follows the asset’s type and, for some assets, its current state. Assets without a matching available authoring toolkit do not add one. Opening another asset can add another toolkit. It does not reset your existing toolkit selection.

Remove an added toolkit

  1. Open the Tools menu and find the highlighted toolkit row.
  2. Select the row to turn the toolkit off, as you would another selected toolkit.
  3. Check your selected toolkits before sending the next message.
The current flow enables the toolkit silently. It does not show an Undo notification. Use the Tools menu to reverse the addition. Closing and reopening the asset’s tab turns the toolkit on again.

Turn automatic enablement off

  1. Open the composer’s overflow menu.
  2. Turn off Auto-enable Asset Toolkits.
  3. Select toolkits yourself when you need them.
You can turn the same setting on again to resume automatic enablement. Turning it on also re-applies it to the assets you already have open. Turning it off controls future automatic additions; remove any already selected toolkit separately.

Good to know

Automatic enablement is on by default. It selects from toolkits available to you. It does not make a hidden toolkit available. An already enabled toolkit stays enabled without a duplicate addition. The behavior applies to the open session’s configuration.
